Personal Development – A Half Term of Enriching Opportunities

Our PD opportunities are shared with parents on Dojo. Here is a summary!

This  term, (Summer 2 2026)  pupils at Haslam Park have enjoyed a wide range of exciting experiences designed to broaden their horizons, develop cultural capital and promote confidence, wellbeing and citizenship.

Highlights have included visits to the Imperial War Museum and The Lowry, a woodland experience at Bolton School, orienteering and outdoor learning, and opportunities to develop a love of reading through our outdoor Booknic events, including families joining us to share stories.

Our partnership with Bolton Wanderers has provided pupils with opportunities to explore healthy lifestyles, physical activity and meal planning, while our Future Leaders programme has brought schools together to develop teamwork, leadership and community involvement. Pupils have also taken part in environmental activities, including litter picking, and celebrated diversity and shared history through International Day of Families, VE Day and Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday celebrations.

Other memorable experiences have included a World Cup-themed sports day, a visit from Lofty the Lion and the League One Playoff Trophy, and opportunities to connect with pupils from other schools.

These experiences are particularly important in our school context, where high levels of deprivation, Pupil Premium eligibility and EAL mean that providing inclusive, accessible enrichment is a key priority. Through our personal development offer, we aim to ensure that every pupil has opportunities to explore new interests, build aspirations, develop positive relationships and experience the wider world, regardless of background or disadvantage.
